Meet Christopher Westerdahl, PGA
Christopher Westerdahl is a PGA Class A Professional and the founder of Cypress Golf Academy. Originally from Coldspring, Texas, Christopher earned his Professional Golf Management degree from Sam Houston State University and has spent his career helping golfers of all skill levels improve through structured, purpose-driven coaching.
Over the past decade, Christopher has delivered more than 20,000 golf lessons and built one of the most active junior and player development programs in the region. His coaching has been recognized nationally, including receiving the Top 50 Master Coach Award for Operation 36 multiple years in a row, 2021 STPGA Youth Player Development Recipient, and he regularly attends national coaching forums and PGA education events to stay at the forefront of modern instruction.
Christopher has also studied under and learned from many of the top teaching professionals in the country, allowing him to blend multiple perspectives on swing mechanics, biomechanics, and skill development into a practical system that helps golfers improve faster.
Today, Christopher specializes in building structured improvement plans that help players translate practice into lower scores on the golf course. His lessons combine modern technology, data, and simple communication so golfers clearly understand what to work on, why it matters, and how to improve.
Christopher’s Coaching Philosophy
Christopher believes there is no single “perfect” golf swing that works for every player.
Every golfer has unique physical abilities, movement patterns, and tendencies. The goal is not to force golfers into a textbook model, but to help them develop a repeatable motion that produces reliable ball flight and consistent scoring.
During lessons Christopher focuses on a few key elements that strongly influence performance:
-
Consistent ground contact
-
Centered clubface contact
-
Efficient distance and ball flight
-
Maintaining balance and tempo
When these fundamentals are trained properly, golfers begin to see real progress both on the range and on the course.
What Makes Christopher’s Coaching Different
Lessons are not random swing tips. Each student works through a clear improvement plan designed around their goals and current skill level.
Students benefit from:
-
Structured improvement plans
-
Technology-supported instruction using Sportsbox AI and FlightScope
-
Clear practice drills designed for real improvement
-
Coaching that connects range work to on-course performance
-
Simple communication that makes complex concepts easy to understand
Christopher’s goal is simple: help golfers practice with purpose and play better golf.
